Online games and Farmville

It's a wonder why so many people get addicted to online games. Farmville and Mafia wars are few of the many examples I can name of.

Farmville is all about having an avatar which interprets a so called life-- farming and being a farmer. Here you can work (plow, seed and harvest) and eventually you earn money. I think the mere fact that the tasks are so easy and can buy anything afterward is just one of the reasons why many people get so addicted to the game. Aside from achieving higher level, each level you augment to opens a chance for you to buy another product or another item.

I think this has something to do with human psychology. Here, it reflects the human wants wherein the game is a reflection of anything that can't be fully attained in real life. Here, you can buy mansions and expand your farm into plantation. Although it would require you to work hard or others have an easier option to cheat (if they have the code), but still, this is far from what reality is. Even if you work all day or night, and with luck, knowledge and skills, it is still not an assurance you'll get rich overtime.

In Farmville and so many other online games, it gives you a chance to get rich. Even if it is just a game, others would think of it something that would ease their stress. At least, they have something that excites them at the end of the day.

I play online games but only to a limited. I was first introduced to Flyff (Fly for fun) by my sister. It was fun and eventually got tired of it. When I learned about Facebook, I had Farmtown but left it. Now I tried Frontierville but still haven't pursued it. I stayed with Farmville, why? Because I had been used to it already. And yeah, I'm still trying to reach a higher level and get rich!

I think that Farmville and the other games are so popular because people need more human interaction and they don't get enough. So playing multiplayer games and spending time on FB gives them that opportunity.

I would like to see names rather than "anonymous". You can click on name/url and just leave the url blank if you don't have one. I would just want to give credit to anyone visiting my site and leaving comments. Thanks a bunch!
